Dreamy, cathartic and instantly catchy, Singaporean indie-rock quartet <a href="spotify:artist:7fwPJniDEJ1ld3lzqZhs1D" data-name="The New Modern Lights">The New Modern Lights</a> craft a soundtrack to adolescent life, love and heartbreak.
Led by vocalist-guitarist Darius Oon alongside Adriel Ong (bass), Doran Oon (synths) and Ethan Hariyono (guitars), The New Modern Lights marry lyrical storytelling with sparkling melodies to a backdrop of ethereal, melancholic textures - possessing a nostalgic sound reminiscent of bands like <a href="spotify:artist:3zmmBJseZelpVEHj8S6Dek" data-name="The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart">The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:6l3BRLCpzfC8yxqf9thWAg" data-name="Yuck">Yuck</a>.
The band released their debut EP '<a href="spotify:album:4XlMcnW7hte39E8gvuU3m9" data-name="The Distance Between Us">The Distance Between Us</a>' in 2021, in turn winning 'Single Of The Year (Rock)' at the annual Singapore Youth Music Awards for their song '<a href="spotify:track:6fR2BjEnN296fxtx4rLdUf" data-name="Bones">Bones</a>'.
They plan to build on their live and studio sound with the release of their eponymous debut album due in 2023.
