The Phantom Chords were formed by Dave Vanian, Roman Jugg and Bryn Merrick of The Damned alongside Clyde Dempsey and Brendan Moon. Originally signed to Polydor, where they recorded one album which was never released, the band released one single “Johnny Remember Me” in 1990 .
Bryn Merrick was replaced by Donagh O’Leary on bass shortly afterwards.
In 1992 the band released a 7” single on Camden Town Records - “Town Without Pity” c/w “Bad Motorcycle” and eventually the album “Big Beat Presents David Vanian & The Phantom Chords”
The Phantom Chords also appear on the Marc Almond album Little Rough Rhinestones.
