The Pinkertons are back, better than ever!
The band have expanded the crew with Oda Dahl, who recently enjoyed great success in The Voice. They have also worked hard in the studio, resulting in their 2023 EP, Gothenburg Nights Derailing, and a string of upcoming singles. Since last time, they may have become less retro, but their sound is even more timeless.
The first single, Weightless, is a perfect example of this. The band displays an unparalleled pop sense with a delightful synth hook, heavy guitars, and a hypnotizing groove, setting the stage for frontman Gorm Kjærås Dahl to deliver the message like only he can. The song is a tribute to the joy of self-deception when it comes to love, and the power of impossible dreams in a world going down the drain.
Putting The Pinkertons in a box is tricky. They draw inspiration from rock, synth-pop, and spaghetti westerns from the 60s. It sounds dynamic and cohesive, ranging from big and powerful to small and sacred, and its sparkling pop music in every way.
As with their previous releases, the band themselves are in the producer's
chair. They address everyday life in a world bound for disaster, armed with big dreams and shameless pop romance. This somewhat paranoid romance, sprinkled with a good dose of unrealistic (yet extremely smartly executed) ideas forms the backdrop for their upcoming releases.
Weightless is available everywhere June 28th.
