Formed in Oxfordshire, in 2022, The Scarlet Chevrons are Matt Carter and G S Creigh – old school friends, the pair have known each other since they were 5 years old.
Musically, the band wear their influences on their sleeves – sounding unashamedly 90s in places – drawing ideas from the best in baggy and indie pop. As such, they are not afraid of singalong choruses and big guitar solos.
Their debut release ‘The Pearly Queen of Horton Heath’ was written and recorded, by the band, over a three month period in the Spring of 2022.
The title track of the EP was devised after seeing an old photo of a traditional Cockney Pearly Queen - with the song title adorning her clothes – it was only later that the band realised they had misread ‘Thornton Heath’ – but by then the track had been mis-written and was already recorded…
Their follow up single – ‘Button Eyes’ – released in October 2022, was written and recorded by the band in September that year. During the same recording session the band also captured a cover of The Primitives pop-rock classic ‘Crash!’.
The band have finished the year on a high with the release of their big pop Christmas anthem 'Do you want me this Christmas?'
The start of 2023 has seen the band record the synth-pop disco track called 'Why So Robotic?' to critical acclaim, with radio plays and many positive reviews. The Scarlet Chevrons are now focussed on finishing their debut album.
