The So So Glos began in 1991 when brothers' Alex Zarou Levine aka <a href="spotify:artist:6MjoFNppz6Tm6qCdHrzcvx" data-name="Alex Orange Drink">Alex Orange Drink</a>, Ryan Zarou Levine and Zach Staggers met as children in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Grouped together through their parents' divorces, they began writing songs whenever their court ordered schedules aligned. The band has grown into a mainstay of the New York City punk scene.
Their sound – loud, sharp, and infectious — a blend of punk rock, power pop, and hip hop, speaks to the chaos and grit of their city. They became synonymous with D.I.Y. Recognizing the need for creative hubs, they co-founded the iconic venues Market Hotel and Shea Stadium, both of which became cultural landmarks in their borough’s thriving music community.
They have released four full-length albums and one EP. <a href="spotify:album:1GuadZkIWGMkbUAu5Qu3oP" data-name="The So So Glos">The So So Glos</a>, <a href="spotify:album:0h0a275f61fQlO4GGNdwcN" data-name="Tourism / Terrorism">Tourism / Terrorism</a> , <a href="spotify:album:5Ea1TGTZDGTvuVVtKuQTOO" data-name="Low Back Chain Shift">Low Back Chain Shift</a> , <a href="spotify:album:6mtyAknyjUbmwCP0Pjlk3k" data-name="Blowout">Blowout</a> & <a href="spotify:album:6Yrpv5iFGyv3R9yHZi2qWz" data-name="Kamikaze">Kamikaze</a> produced by <a href="spotify:artist:3VmQbTkR2foZ6FxbhR1gHk" data-name="Swami John Reis">Swami John Reis</a> and mixed by <a href="spotify:artist:0cf3O3hfvJ2nIbw6vE8UVm" data-name="Mike Mogis">Mike Mogis</a> of <a href="spotify:artist:5o206eFLx38glA2bb4zqIU" data-name="Bright Eyes">Bright Eyes</a>. <a href="spotify:album:6mtyAknyjUbmwCP0Pjlk3k" data-name="Blowout">Blowout</a> garnered critical acclaim, even earning a place on Rolling Stone’s list of best albums of the year.
