The Speaks were known for 3 things: great anthemic music, amazing live shows, and drinking copious amounts of alcohol. From their radio debut on DC101 in 2003 to their 5th sell out show at the 9:30 club for their finale, The Speaks, who's members are of Filipino heritage, broke down barriers and were able to reach fans from all over the globe.
In 2005, The Speaks signed a deal with Warner Music (Asia) with the "Life's a Joke" album release in the Philippines. The second single of the album, "High" received an unprecedented amount of worldwide airplay and is still being covered today from artists all over the world on YouTube. The Speaks released their final EP, "This is the Time" in 2008 and was distributed by Universal Music (Asia).
From sharing the stage with national acts, to having their music videos receive heavy rotation on MTV Asia and MYX Music Channel, The Speaks left their mark on the music scene and plenty of hangovers all over the world.
