Explains multi-instrumentalist Gordon Goldsmith of his passion project, “The Young Love Scene’s musical birth was in 2017, at a time when I really began to embrace the philosophy of following my excitement. No ‘shoulds’ - just only what I want, now.” Thusly composed in a state of spiritual ecstacy/furious ADHD, TYLS’s music - recorded almost entirely at home with an array of sleek electric guitars, cheap synthesizers, a dusty bass, and one mic - serves as both a clarion call to joy and an elixir for loneliness. Influences including the Smashing Pumpkins, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, LCD Soundsystem, Jimi Hendrix, and Radiohead are apparent in the music’s stucture and attitude, but the common thread that runs through TYLS’s music has been described by an early fan as a Cacao Vibe. “This has been the music I’ve been feeling in my chest as I’ve discovered what joy is all about, and it’s come out as much in tears as it has in guitar licks. Countless nights, for years on end, these songs have served as the soundtrack to my dreaming about finally finding my True Loves, my Ride or Dies, my Tribe, my Scene.”
