Formed by brothers Kris and Tom Briese (Aji), Meanjin quintet SGO (FKA syrup, go on) occupy a unique space in the world of dreampop.

SGO began through collaboration between the brothers and singer, Liz Dick. Drawing from influences like MBV, The Chameleons and The Smiths, the trio's early writing explorations were rooted in creating dreamy and ethereal soundscapes while maintaining a pop sensibility.

Along the way synthesist Matt Rosin and drummer Lachlan Scott joined the group. The quintet share an enviable songwriting chemistry and continue to impress and delight fans of dreamy, guitar-based, pop music.

Their 2018 EP, Joyful Hesitation, and 2019 album, Last Light, had singles receiving air time on both Triple J and various Australian and international community radio stations as well as being featured on various Spotify Official playlists. After touring their material and playing shows around the south east Queensland area, the band took a step back to focus their energy on writing while they continued to develop and mature their musical tastes and influences. After abandoning an album’s worth of material, following singles ‘Lavender Sky’ and ‘Bookcase’ saw the band really begin to come to their own in terms of songwriting and production style.

SGO are carving their own space in the shoegaze and dreampop realms. Following this trajectory, the sophomore album One More Year shows a band capable of creating simple yet evocative pop songs wrapped up in a dreampop package.
