‘thecolorfractal’ is the brainchild of singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer Weiwen Seah. Upon his introduction into the music industry, Weiwen was signed to independent record label Big Ear Musica at the tender age of 16 under the moniker ‘For This Cycle’. This successful partnership saw Weiwen release 2 EPs and a single, collecting accolades along the way such as Noise Singapore’s Song of the Year in 2010, and Best Breakthrough Act on Mediacorp’s Live ‘N’ Loaded. His previous project also saw Weiwen sell out headline shows, perform to crowds of 27,000 for the Youth Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and share stages at festivals with musical giants such as Kool and the Gang.
Since then, Weiwen has gone on to pursue a formal education in music, graduating from the prestigious Berklee College of Music with a dual major in songwriting and contemporary writing & production. He has also served as a session musician (JO, Marcus Lee, PÄKS) and producer (Mitchell Proctor, Marcus Lee, Island Fever) for artists spanning a wide range of genres.
Now equipped with new skills, sonic textures, and inspirations, Weiwen has reinvented himself as an artist and is ready to re-emerge as a player in Singapore’s music landscape. Set to release his first single titled ‘twenty three’ on May 3rd 2019, Weiwen, still deeply rooted in the singer-songwriter tradition, incorporates elements of soul, funk, and jazz to create a fresh sound that is uniquely him.
