Y ARA (pronounced ee-ara) is the pop endeavor led by Gillian Aquino, originally from Davao City (PH), presently based in Taiwan.
"CK2" is an indie pop gem that weaves a tale of nostalgia, centering around the memories triggered by a particular scent and the profound sense of missing someone. Its guitar-driven sound pays homage to classic alternative pop hits, delivering a poignant and emotionally charged experience. Having commenced as a duo back in 2015, Y ARA officially took flight in September 2017, unveiling their official first single, "Be The One," in May 2019. This track swiftly ascended the ranks, landing a spot on Taiwan Viral 50 playlist on Spotify and making its mark on multiple iTunes charts across Southeast Asia.
By merging their shared passion for synth pop, indie rock, and mainstream pop, alongside their penchant for crafting sincere and heartfelt lyrics, the duo continued to release a string of compelling singles, culminating in the debut album, "Space & Time," on February 29, 2020. To date, Y ARA has amassed over 5 million streams across all major digital platforms.
Now, the project embarks on a fresh chapter, with Gillian at the forefront, infusing her pop sensibilities and leading the way into an exciting new era.
