Thirsty Forest Animals started playing together in 1988 in Southfield, Michigan and relocated to Chicago in 1991. Thanks in part to the curation of the otherworldly cool staff at Play It Again records (two Thirsties worked there; all were regular shoppers), they fell under the sway of a heavenly host of blissed out British bands on labels like Creation and 4AD.
Their interstellar sound rode on effects pedals, non-standard guitar tunings, and dreams beyond the great lakes teenage wasteland. Their recordings were made in basements on a 4-track.
They played regularly around the Detroit area at St. Andrew's, The Majestic, Finney’s, The Blind Pig, and in Chicago at Cabaret Metro, Lounge Ax, Avalon, Dreamerz, often with friends like Majesty Crush, Spectacle, or His Name is Alive, and opening for national acts.
They disbanded at the end of 1992 to pursue other musical ventures: Jazzless, She, Over Barcelona, Chianti, Pacific High.
Matt Baker - bass, vocals
Campbell Doughty - guitar, vocals
Mark Patterson - drums
Andrew Peters - guitar
