Truly was founded in 1990 by a trio of former Seattle grunge players -- <a href="spotify:artist:5xUf6j4upBrXZPg6AI4MRK">Soundgarden</a> bassist Hiro Yamamoto, <a href="spotify:artist:3Ukr3Ufjg8ygRJv7Ww887f">Screaming Trees</a> drummer <a href="spotify:artist:2oLZ6TD8rmt6xkiNScoCCa">Mark Pickerel</a>, and vocalist/guitarist <a href="spotify:artist:60ESPjz5FuX2TSbGQt6yJy">Robert Roth</a> (from the Storybook Krooks). The group played their first show supporting <a href="spotify:artist:6r26MaDr8bqNALjXgYPXMa">the Jesus Lizard</a> at a Seattle date in October 1990, and recorded the EP Heart and Lungs for Sub Pop in 1991.
