Twilight 22 is a pseudonym for songwriter/producer/vocalist Gordon Bahary, with vocalist/co-lyricist Joseph Saulter. Bahary created new synthesizer technology at age 14 and a year later worked with Stevie Wonder during the classic album "Songs In the Key of Life" creating sounds so Wonder could perform instruments electronically. This led to their collaboration on Wonder's follow-up "Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants” in 1978 and Bahary became Wonder’s writer/producer for his label. In 1979 Bahary created synth sounds for jazz legend Herbie Hancock (“Feet's Don't Fail Me Now”) and wrote/produced for jazz legend Ramsey Lewis for CBS Records. In 1983 Bahary landed a record contract with Vanguard as artist/songwriter/producer with his song "Electric Kingdom.” Bahary asked drummer/vocalist Joseph Saulter to sing and co-write lyrics. “Electric Kingdom” reached #7 on the Billboard R&B Chart (in the top-10 with Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney), #5 on the Dance charts, and made the Pop Charts. The follow-up "Siberian Nights" reached the same charts in 1984. "Electric Kingdom" is referred to as the "boiler plate for hip hop" and sold millions of copies. Rolling Stone Magazine voted it the #8 Greatest Hip Hop song of its time. Other hits include “Mysterious” & “In the Night.” Bahary later produced actor/singer Raven-Symone’. Saulter is still producing music and Bahary pursued his solo career and is a composer/synthesist for film and TV. ~Greg Prato, Rovi
