Hailing from Ipswich, Suffolk (UK), Matt Catling, a.k.a. Under the Sun, entered the music scene in early 2020 and immediately gained some attention through radio airplay on stations such as BBC Introducing, Rave Down on Future Radio, DKFM shoegaze radio. Under the Sun's musical influences fall between My Bloody Valentine, Jesu, Portishead, Boards of Canada, Seefeel, Flying Saucer Attack, and The Telescopes.
After the release of both the single Floating & the album Dream (Shore Dive Records) in early 2022. Under the Sun returned Earlier This Year with the release of the single "Ocean Breeze." Mastered by Slowdive's Simon Scott. The Release Gained Traction like positive reviews and appearing on mixtapes such as Notion, Tinntist and A&R Factory and The E.P "Robot World." Mastered by Andrew Rose (Whimsical, Tears Run Rings & MonsterMovie) was Going for a slight different sound add more trip hop elements with the lead track" Robot World" alongside with the swirling shoegaze elements on "Abstract Art" & "Sunrise" and The APTBS/Polygon Window Inspired Track "Submission".
Under The Sun has played around East Anglia and London, including some appearances at the Woodbridge Ambient, Norwich Psych Fest and Other Side Promotions 2022's Shoegaze All-dayer plus sharing stages with Andy Bell (RIDE, Glok), bdrmm, Secret Shine, Magic Shoppe, Codex Serafini among others.
