[Roel] VanVelzen kicks off his career in 2006 with the hitsingle ’Baby Get Higher’. The singer/pianist hits the ground running by being a monthly musical guest in talkshow De Wereld Draait Door, and when his debut-album ‘Unwind’ is released in March 2007, it's in the charts for over a year. VanVelzen grows out to be one of the most recognizable voices and faces on Dutch television, radio, festivals and streaming platforms. Embarking on five full scale theater tours, releasing five albums and over twenty singles. For his total contribution to Dutch music he is awarded the Gouden Harp.
In 2021 VanVelzen is asked to appear in the Dutch TV hitshow Beste Zangers in 2021, and leaves quite an impression, both as a singer and a songwriter. ’Jij Maakt Muziek’ is one of the highlights of the season. Together with household names such as BLØF’s Paskal Jakobsen, Paul de Munnik and Diggy Dex, VanVelzen writes new songs, and starts a new chapter in his musical life by singing in his native language.
