Fresh from supporting Baker Boy and playing alongside Kian at Laneway, Vince The Kid has cemented himself as one of the rising stars in the Australian hip hop community.
His debut single Rush The Love blends old school R&B, Hip-Hop and Pop with classic word play. “The song is written about a girl I had “feelings” for that just didn’t feel the same in the end and we just drifted apart” says Vince on the song meaning.
Noting names like Nas, JCole, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Joey Badass as inspirations, alongside artists such as Frank Ocean, Jorja Smith, it’s no surprise that this young talent’s music carries such a mature and refined sound. Vince says about his songwriting process “for me it’s whatever comes first, sometimes I’ll catch inspiration at random times, and it might be a melody or a flow or a sick bar but generally it varies”.
Rush The Love was produced by supremely talented and versatile producer/songwriter Jerome Farah, who is responsible for co-writing and co-producing most of Kian and Baker Boys songs, as well as Adrian Eagle’s track ‘17 Again’. While in the studio with Jerome, Vince The Kid says “I gave Jerome a melody and he gave me exactly what was in my head and the lyrics came almost as easily as he made it look. Doing a session with him was definitely a blessing within itself!”
The video for Rush The Love was shot in Vince’s hometown of Shepparton and was written and directed by Vince The Kid, and his close friend Abel Connors.
