Founded by Swiss conductor Lorenzo Ghirlanda, the Vox Orchestra has made a name for itself on the early music scene since its debut at the Thüringer Bachwochen. A new generation of baroque musicians from 10 countries discovers, interprets and revisits the works by Telemann, Purcell, Handel, Bach or Haydn with powerful vitality. They have been dedicated to early music and their instruments, they grew up with collected knowledge of historical performance practice and feel at home in it.
Lorenzo Ghirlanda made his debut as conductor with Handel‘s opera “Alcina” at the Handel Festival in Halle. He worked in Weimar, Cuenca (Spain) and Frankfurt before dedicating his work and experience to Vox Orchester and their projects.
The orchestra‘s first recording with Christoph Pregardien on Deutsche Harmonia Mundi was released in spring 2018, followed in 2019 with works by Henry Purcell. For the complete recording of Handel‘s “Alexander‘s Feast” the Vox Orchestra has extended with a choir.
