The band's initial line-up was the trio of Craig Bloxom on bass guitar/lead vocals, Cliff Grigg on drums/percussion and the late Mike Weiley on lead guitar/vocals. After releasing two independent EP's, the band signed to Midnight Oil's label Powderworks and were managed by the Oils manager, Gary Morris. They subsequently released their first album in 1986 'Harry's Reasons?', and followed this up with a number of albums which cemented their place in Australian rock history.
The Spys most successful single in Australia was 'Don't Tear it Down', and the album it came from 'A.O. Mod' peaked at #12 on the Australian charts. They also had a major hit in Brazil with 'Clarity of Mind'. The Spys remain a hugely popular band in South America to this day.
vSpy vSpy are one of Australia's most loved rock bands and hold a special place in rock history both for their impressive recorded catalogue and for the powerful live performances they delivered prior to disbanding in 2003.
