Another prolific session guitarist well respected by musicians but generally unknown to the listening public, Melvin Ragin, aka Wah Wah Watson, played on countless sessions. Born in Richmond, Virginia in December 1950, Ragin/Watson moved to Detroit and became a member of the <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Motown%22">Motown</a> label's legendary studio band known as <a href="spotify:artist:6R2mI9O7lWJxf5wvAmaRZy">the Funk Brothers</a>. He played with and/or contributed material to the recordings of <a href="spotify:artist:3RwQ26hR2tJtA8F9p2n7jG">the Temptations</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2iE18Oxc8YSumAU232n4rW">the Jackson 5</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:57bUPid8xztkieZfS7OlEV">the Supremes</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:7fIvjotigTGWqjIz6EP1i4">the Four Tops</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:0TF2NxkJZPQoX1H53rEFM1">Gladys Knight & the Pips</a>, as well as <a href="spotify:artist:3fMbdgg4jU18AjLCKBhRSm">Michael Jackson</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3JLUCojZaHrX2LaUkSj7Ud">Pharoah Sanders</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3ZUZYvTkSr7kJQyAXVpqaL">Donald Byrd</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2ZvrvbQNrHKwjT7qfGFFUW">Herbie Hancock</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:0IecGJbdBeYSOVtSPRehh5">Billy Preston</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:4JCt4xrbbBB9blkKwNlcJ7">Evelyn King</a>, among many others.
