Yannique Barker, writer, artist, producer, director, and entertainment exec, p/k/a “YNIQ,” (an abbreviation for his first name “Yannique”) started creating music when he was 16. Starting off with free-styling over instrumentals, he quickly learned how to assemble beats and convert handwritten notes of poetry into songs. Inspired by his father (who had previous experience in the music business), he eventually relocated to Miami soon after transferring from the University of Southern California’s (USC) School of Film and Cinematography to the U of Miami.
Eventually, opportunities in music arose and YNIQ was fortunate to work with multi-Grammy songwriter @PooBear (Usher, Justin Bieber, and others). Learning from Poo, he was later introduced to one of the most successful producers, Scott Storch. Here, YNIQ was able to observe both Poo and Storch who, both individually and collectively, have recorded and produced superstars such as Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, to name a few. Receiving a first-hand education in songwriting and production, YNIQ later teamed with multi-Grammy producer Vinny Venditto (Pitbull, Eminem) and began producing his own material.
Today, YNIQ has executive produced on over 10 multi-genre albums and published over 150 songs commercially. YNIQ is set to release his EP, “The Little Things,” in the fall of 2021, while managing his next big venture, projected rock superstar, Nick Brodeur. Look out for YNIQ and his future projects coming in 2021 and 2022.
