Bachata vocalist Yoskar Sarante was born in 1970 in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. His childhood was highly musical, including days spent busking for money, singing while his father accompanied him on guitar. He was involved with several bands at a young age and put himself through music courses by working construction jobs. By the early '90s he had begun a vibrant solo career, releasing debut album El Prabu (the title is a Sarante alias) in 1994 and continuing at a dizzying clip from there, releasing a new album at a rate of one every two years and appearing on various compilations for the next 20 years. Sarante's romantic song stylings eventually gained international acclaim, and given his years of hard work, he became one of the most renowned bachata singers of his time. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
