YVI

YVI writes melancholic, though comforting storytelling songs. YVI is a Dutch formation founded by singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Diederick Brandsma. YVI conjures soul-raising alternative folk and indie rock akin to <a href="spotify:artist:14r9dR01KeBLFfylVSKCZQ" data-name="Damien Rice">Damien Rice</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3Caot8EtHX6wLpNF2wRzS0" data-name="Glen Hansard">Glen Hansard</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4LEiUm1SRbFMgfqnQTwUbQ" data-name="Bon Iver">Bon Iver</a>. In addition to Brandsma, the band is comprised of childhood friends Lendert Andel, Sebastiaan van Sliedregt and Sijmen Wijnja.

In 2019, YVI released their debutalbum &#39;A Few Words Of Comfort&#39;. They supported <a href="spotify:artist:696uMzB97pg2uqfzmK3MvO" data-name="The Slow Show">The Slow Show</a> in TivoliVredenburg. On 20 June 2020 YVI will release their second record, a five-song EP entitled ‘control’ on Revanche Records . On &#39;control’, YVI describes his struggles with perfectionism. First single will be ‘Not Over You’, released on all streaming platforms on April 3rd.

Compared to YVI&#39;s rather traditional debut album &#39;A Few Words Of Comfort&#39; (2019), &#39;control&#39; is a lot more produced and contemporary. The violin and the band vibe reminiscent of singer-songwriters like <a href="spotify:artist:14r9dR01KeBLFfylVSKCZQ" data-name="Damien Rice">Damien Rice</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:3Caot8EtHX6wLpNF2wRzS0" data-name="Glen Hansard">Glen Hansard</a> has made way for synthesizers, drumcomputers and arrangements in the style of <a href="spotify:artist:4LEiUm1SRbFMgfqnQTwUbQ" data-name="Bon Iver">Bon Iver</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4Z8W4fKeB5YxbusRsdQVPb" data-name="Radiohead">Radiohead</a>
