Manchester’s own Pierluigi Zardetto, better known as Zar, has been making waves in the Drum & Bass scene with his deep, soulful take on the genre. With Italian roots and a keen ear for melody, Zar’s music blends jazz, soul, and hip-hop sampling techniques to create emotive, forward-thinking liquid D&B.

Supported by heavyweights like Fabio, Bryan Gee, LTJ Bukem, LSB, and Halogenix, Zar has been carving out his own lane with releases on respected labels like Gemini Gemini, Footnotes, Rosebay, and V Recordings. His debut album, released last year on DRS’s Space Cadet imprint, was named one of the best albums of 2024 by UKF—solidifying his place as one of the genre’s most exciting new voices.

Now working closely with Gemini Gemini, Space Cadet and Footnotes, Zar continues to refine his signature sound—lush tones, intricate composition, and deep grooves—while also exploring downtempo styles. With more big projects on the way, his rise shows no signs of slowing down.
