From the very beginning of Zoka The Author’s career, his uncommon lyrical precision has set him apart from his contemporaries. Even before he started making music officially, he had already toured a collaborative poetry album around the UK, and been featured in international news outlets from BBC News to Der Spiegel for creating a rap album as his university dissertation – and getting a First Class Honours for it!
After graduating in 2019, he brought the skills he had learnt back to his hometown of London, using his poetic pen to craft multi-layered musical journeys in a number of genre straddling EP’s and singles. These releases earned him support from publications such as EARMILK, Link Up TV, and Wonderland, as well as airplay on BBC Radio 1 Extra, BBC Radio 2, KISS FM, BBC Radio London and Reprezent. However, his biggest strength was revealed to be in using his energetic and charismatic storytelling performance style to bring these releases to life, selling out prestigious venues such as the O2 Academy Islington, Folklore, and Colours Hoxton, and leading to a publishing deal with Max Music Publishing.
Now, fresh off his smash new single ELEPHANT (feat. JyellowL), which got him longlisted for the Glastonbury Emerging Artist competition, Zoka seems set to continue his relentless pursuit to establish himself as a lyrical heavyweight clearly capable of becoming a household name.
