Zola Blood return with NEW SINGLE Together and ‘Brothers’ video collaboration ahead of summer EP release.
Zola Blood return with their first offering since 2022’s Black Blossom. Part of a four track EP due for release this summer, Together speaks to the friction of partnership and dependency. Opening with a looped wind chime, before a sticky, syncopated bassline takes over, the song is a steady meditation of electronica that builds into a crescendo of detuned arpeggios and pitch bent synths.
Singer Matt West said “we wanted to make something that felt different to anything we’d done before and had been listening to a lot of Nicola Cruz and slow techno. Ed wrote this really sludgy bassline, and we just built everything around it. Lyrically it’s about the band and the idea that something can give you a lot of pleasure and a lot of pain, but it’s always better to be in it than out.”
