Hello, everyone! My new album, Silver City, will be out September 6 on Sun Records. And there are three songs out now.
This album is all about women’s voices, and women’s stories. Some of the songs speak to my younger self, and the fragile heart of young women finding their path. Other songs paint a picture of single mom-ing it while hard road dog touring, and some tell the story of other women -- the young and the ones who have come before us -- who have persevered. More info on my earlier albums is below.
-Amy
Amy’s first solo albums, Didn’t It Rain (2015) and This Too Shall Light (2018), are a diptych, showing two views of a remarkable woman and what she can do. Her most recent release, What The Flood Leaves Behind (2021) combines the strengths fostered in her Woodstock community with her own increasingly formidable writing and singing.
From writing and recording new songs to being on the road again, and organizing the annual Dirt Farmer music festival to curating a monthly series of Midnight Rambles at Levon Helm Studios. Asked what she wants from her career now, Helm replies, “I want what I think every artist wants at our core, continued creative expression as the ultimate freedom. To hold it because it’s our calling and our birthright.”
