Formed in Helsinki in 2011, Finnish modern melodic metal band Arion has rapidly achieved an impressive career by merging symphonic metal’s grandeur with catchy, contemporary elements. The band featuring Lassi Vääränen (vocals), Iivo Kaipainen (guitar), Georgi Velinov (bass), Arttu Vauhkonen (keyboards), and Topias Kupiainen (drums) are recognized for their technical skill and engaging stage presence.
Their wide array of frighteningly catchy multi-million streaming hit singles and their explosively executed live performances worldwide have established them as a signficant presence in the heavier side of the melodic metal world.
Arion’s fourth studio album, The Light That Burns the Sky marks a new level of artistic maturity.
The album is energetic and in-your-face while retaining the band’s signature crisp production and several of their most compelling melodies. Guitarist Iivo Kaipainen stands out as a true virtuoso; his playing has a storytelling quality, and his solos are as expressive as they are masterful. His elite riffs and compelling solos add depth and intensity to the songs. They’re perfectly wingmanned by keyboard wizard Arttu Vauhkonen's beautiful blend of technical precision and emotional depth, seamlessly integrating classical influences with modern metal.
Written by guitarist Iivo Kaipainen and produced and mixed by Matias Kupiainen (Stratovarius), The Light That Burns the Sky is the album that will finally cement Arion’s place among symphonic metal’s elite.
