Augustin Dumay is one of the most remarkable representatives of the great European classical tradition. International critics compare him to the great violinists of the 20th century, describing him as a "great classical stylist".
He was discovered by the public after his meeting with Herbert von Karajan, his concerts with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Berlin, and his recordings for EMI. Today, he performs regularly with the best orchestras in the world and around forty of his recordings have been awarded with prestigious prizes. He is also well-know for his violin/piano duo with Maria João Pires. His next recordings will be devoted to Mendelssohn's Concerto with the Orpheus (New York) Chamber Orchestra, Bach Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin.
