Amsterdam based Beans & Fatback is a Rhythm and Soul outfit, in the broadest sense of the word, centered around Onno Smit & Paul Willemsen.
Beans&Fatback released their debut album, Finger Lickin’ Good, in 2010. A radio friendly blend of Country, Soul and Pop.
Returning with a bang in 2013. Their sophomore effort, With Skin Attached, was recorded in Amsterdam’s analog Electric Monkey studio, with lots of reverb, natural overdrive, and in glorious mono. The album received critical acclaim in their homecountry as well as generating numerous synchs in the US. The first single of the album ’Use Me’ opened the door for what was to become Beans&Fatback’s trade mark sound (eg. heavy on the drums with Link Wray style guitars and raw vocals).
Heroine Lovestruck is Beans&Fatback's third and heaviest album to date.
The band was inspired by Surf Nuggets, obscure Rockabilly, Exotica, Ethio-Funk grooves and straight forward high energy Rock&Roll.
Beans & Fatback return after a decade with Hold Fast, a fierce, no-holds-barred record rooted in garage rock and post-punk grit. Led by longtime collaborators Onno Smit and Paul Willemsen, the Amsterdam-based band channels the chaotic energy of late ’70s New York, inspired by the haunting street photography of Joseph Rodriguez. Fueled by raw vocals, relentless grooves and snarling guitars, Hold Fast is a fever dream of an album—urgent, unpolished and undeniably alive.
