With “Drakedreper”, Bendik HK (Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg) follows up his Norwegian Grammy-nominated debut “Progressive Rock Music” and continues to push the boundaries between club culture, experimental electronics, and emotional depth.
Known from the Oslo club scene as a composer, producer, and DJ, Bendik HK has collaborated with artists such as Emilie Nicolas, Ary, Gundelach, and Pantha du Prince, and performed worldwide at Berghain, Sonar, Primavera Sound, Mutek, and Boiler Room.
While “Progressive Rock Music” established him as a distinctive voice in Scandinavian electronic music — an album defined by rhythmic precision and an atmosphere recalling the early works of Burial — “Drakedreper” marks a new chapter.
Here, Bendik HK expands his musical language with a more physical energy and a raw, human presence. The rhythms hit harder, the melodies carry more weight, and the production reveals a sharper emotional edge. The album draws on mythological and personal themes, exploring the idea of confronting and defeating one’s own inner dragons.
“Drakedreper” is both personal and uncompromising. Where his debut floated between airy synths and fragmented rhythms, Bendik HK now steps forward with music that merges the physical intensity of the club with an introspective precision — a space where the mechanical and the emotional collide in unexpected ways.
