A disco-pop experience like no other, Blow Pop is the collective fever dream of Keaton and Avery, two Detroit artists with nothing to lose. This dynamic duo utilizes a sonic palette both retro and refreshingly modern. Keaton is a classically trained cellist and country artist and Avery spent all his formative years holed up in his room wearing a torn flannel, pouting and shredding ACDC licks. So how did they become a groovy 80’s pop powerhouse you ask? No clue!
Actually we do have a clue. The pair met at the Jacobs School of Music in 2015 and after graduating with degrees in Audio Engineering, Composition and Cello Performance they moved to Detroit to begin aimlessly stumbling through a multitude of musical ventures before finally in the calm, pleasant year of 2020, discovering greatness (and falling in love). In March they were laid off from their boring non-music related jobs because of the…well you know. And maybe that’s the only reason Blow Pop exists.
They moved down to Florida to stay with Avery’s parents for what they thought would be two weeks so they could at least be somewhere warm while the world ended. Weeks turned into months and without a band to practice with they started experiencing musical withdrawals. So they rented a midi keyboard from Guitar Center, plugged their instruments straight into a two channel Focusrite and with only a sm57 they created their first single, “Put You Down”.
