Recording as Brother Sundance, Florida native Rylan Talerico creates moody, emotional alt-pop with dark electronic textures. His debut single "Blind" found plenty of streaming traction upon its 2017 release, and over the next three years he built up his status through key live appearances and two EPs including 2020's catchy, noir-ish I Hurt You, I Made This.
Growing up in Boca Raton, Talerico taught himself to play multiple instruments, beginning with drums and later shifting to songwriting and guitar. During his high school years, he fronted a blues-punk outfit called Wallace, which made some noise on the regional indie scene in 2015. By 2017, Talerico had transitioned into solo work with an emphasis on production and released "Blind," his first single as Brother Sundance. Along with follow-up single "The Hurt," it was included on his debut EP, Honey. The success of the EP and of "Blind" in particular -- which found its way onto a number of prominent playlists -- led to a string of high-profile festival appearances and helped establish Talerico as an emerging artist. A 2019 single, "Monsters," featured L.A. singer Ella Boh, but it was 2020's darkly hooky "Nightmares" that proved to be Brother Sundance's next breakout. Later that year it was included on his second EP, I Hurt You, I Made This. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
