By the time I got to SMU in Dallas, I’d had enough of bands. I decided I’d take my acoustic guitar and go solo. Then I met fellow theater major Jack O’Neill and we were fast friends. Next thing you know - the acoustic duo @Jackopierce was born. We spent 5 years playing shows, making indie albums before we got signed to A&M Records. The label
was somehow able to get @TBoneBurnett to produce - and we were off to the races. @BringingontheWeather received a lot of airplay, sales and critical acclaim. We appeared on Conan, in People, Rolling Stone and countless other shows and magazines. As our song @ThisIsOurTime says “before we knew it - we were on our way.” It was all happening - and now all we needed to was follow up with a smash hit record. So we teamed up with Don Smith (@RollingStones, @StevieNicks) and started to record our follow up. The label yawned and recommended we team up with a co-writing producer. Stan Lynch (formerly of @Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Finest Hour somehow got released in ‘96. The record didn’t do as well as it’s predecessor and we found ourselves plateauing. Later in ‘97 Jack and Cary agreed to part ways - but not until a huge “Farewell Tour.”

In the five years when we didn’t speak I released my solo debut “You Are Here” on Aware Records (@train, @johnmayer, @fiveforfighting). I got to work with legendary producer John Fields (@switchfoot, @jonasbrothers, @nickjonas).
