Cassette Academy

Cassette Academy is the newest Hip/Hop, Jazz Fusion group out of Wichita, Kansas, releasing a 4 song EP over the course of the next 3 months. With sounds influenced by Chance the Rapper, Anderson Paak, and Snarky Puppy, the duo of lead singer Isaac Penner and Rapper/Producer David Ladwig find a unique combo between the world of hip/hop and jazz that has never been heard before. Other local stars have come together to fill out the tracks including alto sax phenom Charles Glover, and local keyboard legend Sage Judd. Together with the smooth bass stylings of Wichita’s own Dan Overholt, and a full horn section consisting of Isaac Penner (Trumpet), Cameron Wapp (Tenor Sax), and Matt Davis (Trombone), these sounds are brilliantly brought together by Ladwig in a way that results in smooth, yet intriguing listening. With a large Spotify following of nearly 6,000 monthly listeners, and a large local jazz following from previous sold out venues, this upcoming track “Metroversity” is highly anticipated. The track dives into the issue of unaffordable higher education for those that deserve it the most, and the troubles that go with attending a University.
