Celine Cairo’s songs should come with a warning. From first listen, the Dutch seductress reels you in with bewitching vocals and spell-like atmospherics. Delve deeper, and poetic depictions of the battle between darkness and light, of nature vanishing from the planet, of womanhood and mental health will have you hopelessly hooked. - Lisa Verrico
The singer-Songwriter made her debut with 2013’s Follow EP, produced by Ninja Tune’s Fink. She supported artists like Ásgeir, dodie, Birdy and HAEVN and started headlining shows in the Netherlands in 2015. For debut album Free Fall, she decamped to LA in 2016 to record with Grammy-nominated producer Bill Lefler (Ingrid Michaelson, Joshua Radin). The acclaimed album won her fans around the world, a Dutch music award, millions of streams and airplay. After Free Fall, Celine spent two years writing, travelling and immersing herself in nature before the pieces for her second album fell in place in 2018. With producer Tim Bran (London Grammar, Birdy, AURORA) she wrote the title-track "Overflow" in his North London studio, followed by "Bird Song" and "The Fire". Travelling between Amsterdam and London, in the next two years Celine pieced together her sophomore album with Tim, her regular band and German producer Benjamin Rheinländer (Florian Künstler). Celine's songs have been synced in series like Oprah's "Queen Sugar", "Walker, Texas Ranger" and "Love, Victor" and continue to find new listeners all over the world.
