CJ Hilton developed his talent naturally. The son of a gospel vocalist in Baltimore, Maryland, CJ plays multiple instruments, writes most of his own music and refined his talent singing in church. CJ's skills earned him a signing with the Washington, DC based production company Backwoods, known for their work with R&B favorite Ginwuine. Backwoods introduced CJ to Sony head Tommy Mattola. After a short
stint at Casablanca Records, CJ landed at Capitol.
CJ worked with 2x Grammy Award nominated musician Raphael Saadiq which lead to an appearance and writing & producing credits on the track "Never Give You Up." The song was included on Saadiq's 2008 disc The Way I See It and also featured Stevie Wonder leading CJ to a deal with J Records. In addition to Saadiq, CJ worked with Rodney Jerkins on the TV show Empire for the tracks “Free Freda”, “Born To Win”, “Mama” and “Cold Cold Man” as well as Empire star Serayah’s first single “Driving Me”, Saalam Remi’s “1 In The Chamber”, co-produced a song on the Sex and The City movie with Saalam Remi, uncredited co-writer on Chris Brown’s “Juicy Booty” and Marsha Ambrosius.
CJ is now making it happen with his new label Grammi Society, Inc., owned by music producer Balistic Beats and Jean Guy Leconte. CJ’s new single “I want You” is an original interpretation of the Marvin Gaye classic. “I Want You” will be released digitally on October 18, 2019.
