R&B artist Kesington Kross (aka Kes) was born in Los Angeles, California and spent much of his childhood in nearby Orange County. A difficult move to Compton, south of Los Angeles, fostered what he calls his fantasy life, as well as his interest in different art forms, including music. His approach, inspired by contemporary R&B as well as classic funk (Rick James) and art rock (David Bowie) and synth pop (Depeche Mode), caught the attention of Babyface and and L.A. Reid, and he signed to Epic, the label for which Reid was serving as CEO and chairman. In December 2013, Kesington Kross issued Audio Justice, a five-track EP, as a free download. Two months later, Epic issued one of its songs, "Gimme Your Love," as a proper single. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
