Clubroot is a dubstep producer from England who made his full-length album debut in 2009 and whose atmospheric style was often likened to that of Burial. Born Dan Richmond and hailing from St. Albans, England, he was initially influenced by drum'n'bass (e.g., Ed Rush, Optical) before taking an interest in the burgeoning dubstep style. Upon signing a recording contract with the San Francisco-based label Lo Dubs, he made his eponymous full-length album debut in 2009 with Clubroot. Around the same time, he performed a Radio 1 mix on Mary Anne Hobbs' show that raised his stature substantially, particularly on the Internet, where the mix was heavily downloaded. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
