Daniel Payne

Daniel Payne (formerly known as KD) was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He gained an underground following as a result of releasing over 14 original mixtapes and albums independently. His sound is influenced heavily by the sounds of classic Southern Hip Hop. Laid-back cruising music, street game, bluesy melodies and even thought provoking lyrical content are all in Daniel Payne's repertoire.

This led to KD releasing his 2007 mixtape <a href="spotify:album:10djKPnJVy66JByW5Mav1N" data-name="Last Man Standing">Last Man Standing</a>, <a href="spotify:album:0MFfAt2oyGsJPZonX3JfTt" data-name="Playa Prezident">Playa Prezident</a> in 2008, <a href="spotify:album:4eEQkH9hZEgBtjlaYcer7e" data-name="Untouchable">Untouchable</a> and <a href="spotify:album:4OJJ1HPR0nLbyXNK90YYVh" data-name="Soul Inn">Soul Inn</a> in 2009, and the best of KD in 2010. In 2011, he released <a href="spotify:album:4xJeYC42RUnxRjaenPVUps" data-name="G-Fluid">G-Fluid</a> . G-Fluid was critically acclaimed and featured the underground classic with <a href="spotify:artist:0Y4inQK6OespitzD6ijMwb" data-name="Freddie Gibbs">Freddie Gibbs</a>, &#34;<a href="spotify:track:1EofmFXzhGvFptEys7er1E" data-name="Let Me Ride">Let Me Ride</a>&#34;. The following year, he released <a href="spotify:album:78W4dcJK5wztCAAXFhcS32" data-name="Crown Me">Crown Me</a>. In 2013, he released <a href="spotify:album:2HdJN2KGCyiUeYEUJbAvI1" data-name="Diary of a Trill Nigga (Deluxe)">Diary of a Trill Nigga (Deluxe)</a>, then <a href="spotify:album:7qkl9caWGWFMgOTjLFRJNV" data-name="Space Age Southern Playalistic Country Rap">Space Age Southern Playalistic Country Rap</a> in 2015 and <a href="spotify:album:45LabjGNdperv9IaOU6oBf" data-name="Green Acres">Green Acres</a> in 2016.

In 2019 after a 3 year hiatus, he formally announced a name change from KD to Daniel Payne and released an EP entitled <a href="spotify:album:1itozuOfhf9X27GP8aXd3L" data-name="3rd Coastin&#39; on Purple Waves">3rd Coastin&#39; on Purple Waves</a> that included a slowed version with <a href="spotify:artist:1EguSXeFKLoIMOZByJTqw2" data-name="Slim K">Slim K</a>. His first album, <a href="spotify:album:3ZktsC6QbZPmoCg8Hh3Fw6" data-name="Purple Onion">Purple Onion</a> was successful and was followed by <a href="spotify:album:0dk6EczTFCqPVAlkPFJlfT" data-name="The 4ep">The 4ep</a> and <a href="spotify:album:6Cb88FxChvtMYVYQi49qeK" data-name="5 Points">5 Points</a>.
