With dreams of becoming a footballer before signing up to study engineering at university, Darkoo’s path took an unexpected turn after exploding onto the scene with her anthemic track ‘Gangsta’ featuring One Acen - a track that gave Darkoo her first UK top 40 and was later crowned by the Official Charts Company as the Afrobeat Track of 2020.
In 2024, Darkoo’s monster hit ‘Favourite Girl’ featuring Dess Dior thumped across global airwaves and was dubbed ‘song of the summer’. The remix featuring Rema, continued to catapult Darkoo and the record to the forefront of global listeners
At 23 years old and with over 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 5 (3x 2021 and 2x 2025) MOBO nominations and a GRM Rated Awards nomination for artist of the year, a UK number one, Darkoo is one of the most talked about Afro artists. With co-signs from the likes of Rema, WizKid, Davido and Ayra Starr to name a few. Her imaginative genre blurring music blends her love of international sounds with a UK edge, helping to create a unique form of Afro swing that she’s firmly made her own.
