London post-punkers Desperate Journalist first appeared in early 2013, playing a local Grunge night in Finsbury Park.

Jo Bevan (vocals), Rob Hardy (guitar), Simon Drowner (bass) and Caz Helbert (drums) self-released the 'Cristina' EP and were quickly signed by Fierce Panda records, who released the 'Organ' and 'Happening' singles, followed by the 'Desperate Journalist' LP at the end of 2014.

Two further albums - 2017's 'Grow Up', and 2019's 'In Search Of The Miraculous' - were released to critical acclaim and saw the band tour across the UK and Europe. Singles including 'Hollow', 'Resolution' and 'Cedars'  received regular radio play from the likes of KEXP, 6music, XFM and Radio 1.

In October 2020 the band released a lockdown cover of 'The Fear' by Pulp. In April 2021, 4th album ‘Maximum Sorrow!’ was announced alongside lead single 'Fault'.

Never knowingly lacking in a strife of surprises, crescendonically deadpan quartet Desperate Journalist return to the musical affray with a brand new single, 'Unsympathetic Parts 1 and 2'. This is the first track to be taken from their 5th album, entitled No Hero on Fierce Panda Records.
