Boateng (Boat) Agyei, popularly known as DJ Boat, was born and raised in eastern Ghana. Boat describes himself as the original Afrobeats tastemaker. He created the first influential Afrobeats playlists in 2011 on Spotify, championing how the world enjoyed the dominant sounds coming out of Africa.

Before the streaming platforms African editorial playlists, the heavyweights in African music, including Davido and Wizkid, traced a significant number of their listeners from DJ Boat’s curated playlists on Spotify which to date have over 800000 followers.

Approximately 10 million people around the globe tuned in to stream his DJ mixes and curated playlists on YouTube monthly. At the height of the pandemic, that number was 15 million, providing a well-needed space for those who turn to DJ Boat for top-notch music during a difficult time. This gets to his passion for Music and specifically what he describes as music from the African-Diaspora. His vision is to connect people from all over the world through music from the African-Diaspora and support the upcoming, emerging, and established African artists through his platforms.

Outside curation he has also released original music as an artist which has been streamed over 7M times on Spotify with editorial supports from leading streaming platforms.
