Formed in the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2008 and residing in Asheville for a decade-plus, Doc Aquatic is brothers J.C. and Zack Hayes, Charles Gately, and Kevin Boggs. The four combine to produce a special brand of catchy shoegaze-pop with familiar hints of 90’s alternative and Laurel Canyon flair concentrated through a non-bleached paper filter into a live show described as “…mesmerizing…high-energy.. orchestrated psychedelia..” .. “audacious fun” with “hypnotic grooves and a commitment to melody.”
‘Blue Hour Yawn’ is the band’s fourth full-length record. A refined collection of 11 songs written, recorded, and produced by J.C Hayes + Charles Gately at the band’s studio, Mixed by Alex Farrar and Mastered by Adam McDaniel at Drop of Sun in West Asheville. The songs explore the fleeting moments as lightness gives way to the dark, a dream forgotten, because without death there can be no growth.
