For visionary group Dream Phases, life is not simply “but a dream.” It’s a reality for the promising, thrilling and adventurous Los Angeles fivesome. Ever hungering to expand their musical horizons, Dream Phases serve up their new album, Phantom Idol (Coconut Spaceship Records), with a heady concoction of rough-around-the-edges garage rock, ethereal space jams and succulent strains of the pop variety.
For founding members vocalist/guitarist Brandon Graham, drummer Shane Graham and guitarist/vocalist Keveen Baudouin, consciousness is not to be avoided or feared but explored and expanded as far as our minds will allow.
With creative ambition and imagination that know no bounds, the mature yet playful Dream Phases are simply incapable of watching life pass them by. That outlook on life, combined with their undeniable and irrepressible gift for creating transcendent music is the beacon they follow with full-fledged fervor. Phantom Idol, honed by in-demand producer Matt Schuessler (Kurt Vile, Cat Power), has led the band to the most exciting chapter thus far in its career: reinvention.
Given the strength of Phantom Idol, the quintet, now joined by bassist/vocalist Jeanna Fournier and keyboardist Phil Cobb, are closing in on the summit of a mountain, where an epiphany about Dream Phases’ true identity may be in store for them, for once and all.
