Dumb Things are five friends who have been making guitar pop in Meanjin/Brisbane since 2017. They have always taken turns writing songs, and since their previous albums, they’ve doubled down on this collaborative approach, expanding from three to four songwriters. With this humble yet freewheeling mindset, their songs are characterised by shimmering back-and-forth guitars, breezy melodies, and wistful lyrics laden but not weighed down with subtropical ennui. Their music threads that fine line between light and shade; an increasingly dog-eared catalogue of page-turning guitar pop.
