When Ed saw Eric Clapton on television at the age of nine, he knew two things for sure: he wanted a beard just like his and the same guitar. It took some time for that beard to grow, but from that moment on, the guitar became his life's passion. In 2010, he burned all bridges behind him to pursue his dream: living fully for and from music. With the platinum single "Make It On Your Own", two albums, four NPO Radio 2 Topsongs, various support acts, and his own club and theater tours, it's safe to say he succeeded.
In addition to his own music, Ed also writes for others. He teamed up with Peter Slager of BLØF to write the title song for the box office hit "Weg van Jou", along with Rob Dekay. They also collaborated on the music for the musical "SOOF". A song from this musical was performed by Jaap Reesema in the popular TV show "Beste Zangers" in 2023.
In 2019, Struijlaart delved into the world of podcasting and started "Gitaarmannen, the podcast". Here, he tells the stories of the best guitarists, both from the Netherlands and beyond. The podcast continues to this day, captivating audiences with its insightful interviews and captivating tales.
In April 2024, Ed releases the single "All We Need", born out of a collaboration with producer Lukaz and the talented singer/songwriter Philine. By the end of 2024, Ed can be found in theaters with his theater tour "Gitaarmannen 3: John Mayer", a tribute to perhaps the last classic Guitar Hero!
