Erik von Spreckelsen is a classical composer, jazz pianist and producer from Copenhagen, Denmark. He is an associate professor in composition and piano at The Danish National Academy of Music.
Amongst his works as a classical composer are 2 operas, many works for chamber orchestra and pieces for soloists and small groups. He has also written for big bands, e.g The Danish radio big band and The Belgium radio big band and composed and arranged for The Danish national chamber orchestra.
As a jazz pianist he has performed all over the world with various bands and soloists. In 1987 he won the title “ Best young group in Europe” together with the band Page One. Check out “Live at Ronnie Scotts”, and “Beating Bop Live”.
He has recorded and toured with the american sax player, Bob Rockwell ( Freddie Hubbard, Thad Jones/ Mel Lewis) Check out 2 albums on “Erik Ørum von Spreckelsen Quartet”.
In 2020/21 Erik collaborated with bassist Bo Stief (Dexter Gordon ,Stan Getz, Bob Berg, Jackie McLean amo) and the urban hip hop producers "Motion Lounge". Numerous ways of triggering 20 samples on 2 Akai Apc´s was prepared before a live performance. Since 2022, Erik has released tracks that shows his passion for jazz, funk, hiphop, classical and folk. All produced by himself. 2025 will be full of new releases that will showcase Erik as composer, producer and pianist
