A DC based solo artist and member of Baltimore dream-pop band Moon By Moon, Etai has been an active member of the regional and online DIY music scenes for several years. His debut solo album Bloodletting (2020) was a collection of sparse and deeply personal songs played on an acoustic guitar and recorded with a single microphone. 2021 saw Etai releasing a droney cover of “Big Lawn” by Conor Lynch and an ambient/noise piece titled “Slow March Towards Death By Machine”. Then, in the summer of that year Etai released his sophomore album Summer of Ghosts: a colorful collection of sample-based tracks warped into droning psychedelic loops and paired with Beach Boys harmonies and warm synths. The album features the Panda Bear inspired “Long Division” and synth-pop “Summer of Ghosts”, both of which feature lyrics that delve into the personal psychology of living with late-stage capitalism, confronting inequality and violence, desperation and pain, and looking inside oneself to find empathy for others.
