Julia Grassetti and Yury Hermuche began to shape their own blend of heavy, hypnotic psychedelia, space rock, and shoegaze when they met in 2005 in São Paulo, Brazil. Over the following two decades, they built a reputation for intense live performances and prolific studio output, releasing 12 LPs to date in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Firefriend has established itself as one of the most intriguing under-the-radar names in contemporary psychedelic rock. Past drummers include Woodsky (2005), Pablo Orue (2006–2013), and C. Amaral (2013–2025). In April 2025, the band welcomed drummer Ricardo Cifas and synth/keyboardist Pinhead, marking a new chapter in their sound. The quartet recently completed a six-show run across England in support of their new albums FUZZ and BLUE RADIATION.
