A band from Sydney.

Sydney’s FLOWERTRUCK return in 2022 with an explosive new single “Crying Shame” – coming from their long-awaited 2nd album, set for release in Winter 2022 via Spunk! Records.

Inspired by the sounds of Talking Heads and Orange Juice, with hints of local contemporaries like The Goon Sax and Rolling Blackouts, the track bursts open as an ode to all our clumsy failures and finding the beauty in laughing at oneself when you fall.

The track is a step in the direction towards a more matured and world-worn sound for FLOWERTRUCK, while still holding onto the playful volatility and sarcasm which earned them critical acclaim and a devout fanbase on their last release.

Frontman to the four-piece, Charles Rushforth, says that “Crying Shame” was inspired by a “really shitty job I had in Broken Hill”.

“I was essentially lifting gravel all day and feeling sorry for myself… I used to get so worked up about it that I’d get teary, but then I’d catch a glimpse of myself looking like an 1800’s chimney sweep (albeit with hot pink Ruggers), and I’d laugh until it hurt.”

FLOWERTRUCK are coming in hot off the back of their debut album Mostly Sunny, which received media love from NME, theneedledrop, The Music, Triple J, Double J, community radio and more, alongside being shortlisted for the Australian Music Prize.
